Have any of you guys bought one of these units from www.sale-tools.com?  They have them for $1,199.00 new, is that too good to be true?

David at Shut Up & Fish was selling them for $1,299 with a remote (1199).
He sold a bunch and sold out.
so that would be a good deal if they still have them.

Its replacement is being discontinued now (1199ci HD SI Combo). The 1198 should be less than that price. It is an antique in the electronics world.

1198 is probably the best unit humminbird has made . People that have them love them . Discontinued just means they're pushing new products.

I talked to a rep not to long ago and they have an update for them so you can link up the old units with the new series, so im thinking the 1198 will work for a while longer,

HB supports their past products for a good long while. Yes as long as the unit processor can handle any new features that may be added. There have been 15 software updates for that model since it first came out. I have a copy of all of them. They will be repaired as long as there are parts to do so, typically 8+ years or so.

It was discontinued to bring in new products. Not because it reach End-of-service-life..
