I recently gave my fishing scissors to a friend of mine. I want to replace them with a high quality pair of scissors. I mostly use them for cutting line, braid, and opening lure packages. What do you all recommend? Also, I am not crazy about my Rapala pliers, what do you recommend that is high quality?

Boomerang Snips

I've always used these with good success. They cut through 55lb Power Pro like butter. They're very durable too. I've stepped on em' (I'm 315lb) and they hold up just fine.

+2 on the Boomerang Snips. Tommie is the one that introduced me to them and I have introduced several more people since then.

exactly what I was gonna suggest. Best scissors for the boat ever made.

Pliers? Get some long Berkley stainless steel for hook removal and some Texas Tackle split ring pliers for tackle maintainence.

Tell your friend you are stressed out and must have your fishing scissors back. Offer to buy him a replacement from L L Bean. They have Dr. Slick Scissor Forceps for $18.00. That should fix it. Just playing. Hope you get pass you dilemma. To let you know your dealing with a guy that uses the four dollar scissors. Your right they are not that good but they do get braid cut. They leave a little fuzz after the cut to remind you they are the brown handle cheap pair. Good luck.

TAKE A PHOTO HOME NOT THE FISH. CATCH AND RELEASE
Set the hook first and ask questions later.

Thanks for everyone's responses. I am going to look at the Boomerang, Fiskars, and Buck knives -scissors.

What about pliers? I am thinking about curved pliers made out of stainless steel...Thoughts?

You can buy some decent pliers even some with bent tips at Lowe's for less than $5.00 a pair. The smaller Gerber or Rapala scissors are great at $3.00 a so a pair. I will not spend $100 on a pair of scissors because chances are they will get lost or fall overboard etc. I buy a few pairs of the ones I mentioned and keep 2 of each in the boat.
