Please give a recommendation of where to start on Conroe. Also, feel free to share any advice you might have.

Pastor, I noticed you hadn't gotten a response yet. At the south end of lake, where all the restaurants and bars, there are a few motels. Some pricy, some cheaper. Google for more info. However, if you aren't interested in being at the busy south end, try Fisherman's Cove on Hwy. 1097. They rent cottages and are on the water with closeby restaurants, shopping and fuel.
