The spinnerbait bite has been hot lately...caught so many bass on one of them that it broke and left me with only the head attached to my line.

Tried several other spinnerbaits but none could match the broken one for numbers and hard hits. So I painted up a spinnerbait head to match the broken one's colors and added the blade combination that worked best. Hoping for a chance to try it out next week.texas

You did a great job boisarc. I watched KVD catch a few last weekend with it out of the package on TV. That little hologram blade is the ticket this time of year. You might also try a small white diamond dusted blade also.

Thanks for the tip Donald. I've started trying to apply different spinner blade configurations and colors and use them to the best advantage. Seems to change every trip or even several times a day. Interesting stuff...lots to learn ... enjoying the learning process. texas

My spinnerbait replacement worked better than I hoped....

The head shape and double willow blades make this spinner easy to pull thru the sticks and grass. Banged it thru flooded buckbrush in the grass and pads and caught some nice 1 -3 pound bass...too many to keep count. Calling this attempt at spinnerbait replacement a success. texas

I found the bass stacked up in a 30 yard stretch of a huge shallow area 2-4 foot deep covered with broken patches of coontail, pads and stickups. It's hard to fish but the numbers are crazy. So far the biggest bass weighed about 4 pounds ... lots of 2-3 pound fatty's in between.
The bait in the picture was already formed. Just painted, finished and added the bling. It's supposed to mimic a shad. I've got a couple dozen of the heads in different styles and weights. Been experimenting around...what head is best for what... this one in great in the salad...got another style that is awesome in brush piles. Testing blade combo's in different situations. Making skirts in different color combinations to mimic preyfish. Very interesting stuff...lot more to fishing spinnerbaits than "chunk it out and wind it in". Bet Don could give a lesson or two on spinnerbaits texas
