I'm sick.

Never had a crappie pull drag before. I thought is was a bass. I had caught a 3 lb bass earlier and it didn't pull any drag on the reel I was using. I knew it was a good one right off because it was heavy.......then coming up it took off and pulled drag, made a 3 second run. I got it to the top to see it, what a football! Then it made another run, straightened the hook a little and down she went. I had been using that jig all day and had notice the barb was getting short but didn't change it. hammer

Now I feel like the deer hunter who got a glimpse of the big guy and is totally consumed with getting him.

I know the feeling. Go get her again! I have been told that a fish only has a 3 second memory, so she probably doesn't remember being hooked!

I feel your pain. It's sickening. I asked myself the same question "why didn't I change the hook or redo the knot." When I loose a big one. Perhaps next time.

My biggest crappie so far is 2.62 lbs. I will never know, but this one might have made the 3 lb mark.

Dang the luck!!!! Next question your net was where? Not saying you needed it, but it would have been worse if you had seen the toad and lost it lifting it in the boat. Been there done that!!!!! Now I make sure there is a net within arms reach just in case. Looking at it from the bright side it probably saved you a taxidermist bill.
