Yuck. Let's hope it was just an accident...someone dropped their bucket. Then again, they could have cleaned the mess up.

I was cussing in my head two weeks ago. Just ranting to myself as I launched on Hubbard. The smell could knock an elephant over at the ramp. As I got to my first destination I realized the stench had seemed to follow me. Popped open the live well and it seems I'd not seen one big Ole crappie in the back corner.

I'll never do that again. Double and triple check live well! Grose! barf

Hate that you forgot the fish but that's a funny story.

I once went to get my boat ready for a fishing trip after a few weeks sitting in my shop. While I was climbing around the boat, I noticed a foul smell. When I opened my live wells, there were two yellow bass in one side. They were now rotted to the point you couldn't pick them up without them breaking apart. REALLY NASTY!!!

So, I went to the house and got apple cider vinegar, lysol and bleach. Lot's of paper towels and neoprene gloves. I found a respirator that I had used while spray painting the inside of my house. Found something to dip the rotted mess out of the livewells and went to work.

Note to self: Check both sides of the livewell. TWICE!!

Not Crappie, but I left a Dove in my hunting vest. Hung it in the closet and after a few days it stunk up the whole place. Miss Elaine was not happy with me. We had to wash all the clothes that was in there.

We left a fish in my livewell a couple of weeks ago, next time I went out, I thought there's no way the slime in there is smelling that bad. Opened it up and almost lost the contents of my stomach! It got fed to the turtles and I had to flush my livewell several times to get the stench to go away bang
I washed it out good once I got home.

I haven't left a fish in mine yet but do about once a month fill my live well and add about 1/2 cup of bleach. I let it recirculate for a bit and drain. I rinse 3 times by filling well up to max and then spraying. It works wonders for the overall cleanliness of the well.

Have left fish in the boat before a couple times. Even popped the boat blind up on the duckboat once and found a lost teal from September that had been stewing for a while. This was November!!! barf

A long time ago, when I fished exclusively for catfish, I left a one pound coffee can with shrimp inside behind the seat of my truck. Since I drove with the windows down, I thought the smell was coming from the side of the road until I stopped. Going to the truck in the mornings got pretty bad before I started looking. When I found the can there was nothing but a black liquid inside the can that would knock you down! Easy fix though.

I would rather die finding out there was no God than die finding out there is.

Three weeks ago my cousin wanted my left over shad after I got thru fishing because he cant ever seem to catch any. So, I put a quart or so of them in an ice bag and gave them to him. He put them in his cooler in his boat. Last Saturday I was helping him mount some rod holders and ask him why he didn't carry his fish heads off further from the house, and that it smelled badly, and he said it was those shad in the cooler. He just had to have them, but did nothing but make his cooler stink with them.

I found a fish that "a friend" had hid in my rod box. I put it in my gutbucket and emptied the bucket into his livewell. He called a couple weeks later. Called me lots of horrible names.
