I live in Granbury. I got hooked on catching blue cats last winter, with several large fish from Waco, Whitney, Tawakoni, and BB. I do pretty decent locating and catching on those lakes. I spent MANY hours on Granbury, with very limited success. I caught numerous large channels in the 5-15 lb range, and several small 2-5 blues. Probably averaged 10-1 channel to blue. Largest blue was a 16. Standing offer to pay for gas food beer for one of the "experts" (you know who you are) to come down and see if you can find these things on Granbury. Here is the Granbury stocking from TPWD- Catfish, Blue 1991 86,343 Fingerling Catfish, Channel 1993 300 Fingerling Catfish, Channel 1969 374,675. 86k worth of Blues in 91 should mean there are some hogs swimming around. It is difficult to cast net up gizzards, fairly easy to get threadfin and carp. Or we can go in my boat and all you have to do is drive down.

SI & river channel. Heavy timber is your friend. But you are right, they are tougher there.

That is where I look and fish. I am just never close to doing as well as I do on other lakes. The fish should be there based on the stocking, unless for some reason the channels keep the blue population down?

Blues will usually outcompete channels, but most of the Brazos River lakes have had problems with golden aglae blooms from time to time.

Just FYI....the stocking history lists are not complete. For example, here is Grapevine's list...it is missing the first 20 years.

That could have somethin to do with it, because PK isn't exactly known for its high rate of toad blues either. Whitney has good fish in it. But i've seen big blues while bowfishing in granbury. 25-30 range. I saw a blue carcass at the tin top boat ramp last fall that looked like the head off of a 40 pounder. I'm assuming it came off of a jug toward the mouth of the lake. So they gotta be in there somewhere but it may not be worth the effort, just couldn't tell ya. I used do to well on flatheads and bigger channels close to the mouth of the lake with box blues mixed in. Esp if it was flowing.
