What is the best non expensive crappie rod. I am looking at a few now on Fisherman's Factory Outlet. Check them out: https://www.ffo-tackle.com/Index.cfm

I used the shakesphere micro lite at walmart for 16 bucks and it pulled in everything from 12# hybrids to half pound crappies and sensitive too!! Also I hear that the allstar rods at academy are good but no experience with em!!! GOOD LUCK!!

I'd probably just go to Walmart and pick you something up there. That way you can see how it feels in person instead of ordering online.

I got a quantum rod at academy for $12 last week. It's worked great so far. Sensitive and enough rod to flip in a almost two pound crappie.

Also I hear that the allstar rods at academy are good but no experience with em!!! GOOD LUCK!! I bought one of those and the rod snapped in half when I got hung up on some brush. I plan on getting another one because they are inexpensive and that's perfect for my son. JZ

Wally Marshall has a good line of rods and reels that are manufactured by Lews.

A guy I fish with just got a Shimano Sojourn spinning rod for less than $30. It is one of the best feeling, lightest rod I have held in a long time.

Simple. Go to Walmart and buy a 6' medium action spinning rod for $18.88.
I have three that I use for my teaching trips and I use one of them a lot myself and I have a bunch of much more expensive rods. Very sensitive and has plenty of backbone to lift a big fish over the rail of my pontoon. Biggest mistake most anglers make is getting too light of a rod thinking it's more sensitive. Not true. I've found that a stiffer rod is actually more sensitive. A soft tip will absorb more of the thump than a stiffer one.

For the money a Berkley Cherrywood is hard to beat - about $25, but have seen them on sale at Academy before for half that.
