M-Pack makes some awesome jig heads for the A-Rig. Very hard to hang up. Check them out. They are worth the money...

Not trying to hijack this thread but I think this question is related. I am wondering what rod you guys throw this beast on? I bought an A-rig but have yet to use it. I have a TFO 7'3" Heavy that would probably be the stoutest rod I have.

That rod will work fine for most A rigs.

As opposed to heavy wire and snap swivels?

I see some folks above saying to throw A-Rig thru Feb and spawn, which seems like they are basically telling you when to STOP throwing it. These fish in the picture below were caught in hot summer conditions. Sooooooooooo, "maybe" they still work past the spring time. Don't put too much thought into always following the "rules". You can't always trust fish. Your chances for success increase when you're on the water!!!! If you want to throw it, throw it! They gotta eat, right? GOOD LUCK! FISH ON!

I might have to break mine out tomorrow, but I'll probably loose it in 5 minutes in the trees.

I use a Shimano 7-9 A-rig rod and a 7-9 Dobyns swim bait rod.

I've been using an 8' Mojo Bass swimbait rod, and it will definitely do the job. But the rod is damn heavy. I need to find something lighter. 20 or 30 casts and it feels like arm day at the gym.

Ive seen a video with a GoPro tied to an A-rig while the fish hit it. Im convinced fish don't care, or cant see the line at all!
