Im going to try 15lb braid instead of 10 on my spinning setup. i throw drop shots and flukes weightless mostly. Its going from a 2lb mono equivalent to 3lb. Do you guys have any experience with it? im just wanting to be able to lean on the fish a little more in grass. I like throwing my fluke like this when i can get away with it. i can chunk it a mile, even in the wind. Im throwing it on a 7'4 Dobyns HP so i figure i need to beef up my line a little in grass

I've tried some lighter braids, but prefer to go 15 lb now. the way I see it you are making leader distance from reel through all guides and then the length you set before casting. The lighter braid provides no benefits that far from the lure. Only time you use a short leader is around structure, so possibly the lighter braid better when around structure and clear water, like Roberts.

I spool 20 lb Invisix and it works great. You may want to look at the nanofil line berkley makes-this stuff casts a mile!! This is the only other braid I use.

I use Sufix 832 20# with a leader, and have had NO problems with it.

Beware the nanofil... Even trying a double palamor I've had knots slip out.
It does cast a mile.

20 or 30lb braid main line on almost all my spinning reels; no problems. 15 would cast farther.

It does cast a mile. I gave up on nano, never could find a knot that didn't slip.

Rob, one guy on YouTube found that Nanofil worked best with what would be a doubled line Improved San Diego Jam knot.
He demonstrated that under tension, it broke along the line, not at the knot. He did it "in the lab" 20 times to verify it, once or twice on the resulting video to show how successful the knot is.
He had less success with all other knots including those recommended specifically for Nanofil.
I love Nanofil for really light stuff but I have found 10 lbs. Sufix 832 braid to cast just about as well. One would rarely want or need to get much below 10 test and still be safe targeting LMBs of possible size. I usually use an 8 lbs. fluoro leader.

I can't think of a reason why you would need to go down to 10lb braid in Texas

T54,
Well, spinning reels only, first, where one is simply trying to magnify the advantage of casting light lines.
And, clear water where one is tying on 6 or 8 lbs. fluoro leaders for invisibility. This rigging seems to be the preferred drop shot rig set up for pros. Or for pressured fish.
But, agreed, that in general moving up to a stronger braid might save a DD that might otherwise snap a lighter line.

I can't think of a reason why you would need to go down to 10lb braid in Texas zebra mussels and clear water. the Tour pros have shown you need to use 6 or 8 lb braid at places like Beaver towards the dam, Ray Roberts and soon to be other lakes are getting as clear or more clear than Beaver at the dam. if your line is actually around structure and the zebra mussels then you need 100 lb braid!
