I fish a rigged out water wagon with trolling motor and depth finder. I used to fish West Texas a lot and I would see someone every now and then. I fish DFW now and people see me and act like I invented the wheel!! I love my wagon and want to hear from others that understand why!!

I have a Hobie Float Cat. It doesn't cover much ground as it is only powered by dive fins. It works best when fishing shoreline with my back to a light wind.

I've used both of the pictured boats and also made my own version of the wagon many years ago. They were not comfortable over long periods, because of some lower back problems that I developed. I started with float tubes over 40 years ago, and remember when the Austin fly shop rented the Hobies that came along later. Neither is that great around waves/ boat wakes or high winds in open water, but might be just the thing for small protected pond areas.

Sorry, just my humble experience.

What did you finish the wagon out with ? Several folks in west TX use wagons. Motor lets you cover water plus you can hold steady in the near constant wind out here.

Yup! My trusty vessel is still in action and remains the best fishing platform on small water.

Just a heads up that foam is banned in some public waters, with hefty fines. Don't know if applies to WW type craft, or if it is enforced. Some kind of durable coating looks to be a good idea, as my original WW would wear down underneath and lose tiny to small pieces upon impacts. Some types of uncoated foam absorb water and drain very slowly, would get my carpet wet if transported it in a van... My homemade version was easily made from pontoons cut from an old foam dock float and bolted together with 3 threaded rods, worked well and comfortable with a fold down low beach chair.

Hope this helps.

Me and two other guys made some of these years ago, worked great, talk about people giving you some looks on the lake. I had cut out areas on the back that my tackle box fit in and a small cooler. I also did a cut out for my drink on the side, the boat itself would keep the drink cool for a while. They were fun and in the end I sold mine and went to the small 2 man plastic boats....
