is your question about falcon or buying from walmart?

falcon makes a good value rod out of Broken Arrow, OK. $100 would be the BuCoo series, good rod at that price point. Not top end or anything but for $100 they are good rods. Never bought one at walmart but that shouldn't be any different rod than you'd get from any other retailer.

I won't buy rods from WM. I've seen the way the staff abuse the fishing equip too many times. Not to mention the shoppers.

If you buy one from there inspect the hell out of it first man.

Every Falcon Rod I bought from WM now sits in the corner waiting for the wife's next garage sale. Silly me thinking WM sold a quality product. Seriously if you are only a sometime weekend angler they are fine.

I bought one that said 'medium heavy'. Good rod but it sure isn't medium heavy. Ended up being a good crank bait rod though.

Seriously? Expand on this please. Are you saying Falcon has a line of lesser quality rods sold exclusively at Wally World?

Not really sure how you got that from what I said.

I said the staff there abuse the fishing equip like idiots. It has nothing to do with the quality of the products. You might want to try reading my comment again.

I can vouch for this. I have bought rods at Walmart for my grade school kids. 5 - 10% of the rod tips are broken. 20% have a bent eye. No telling how many have been through the Ugly Stik "bend it over backwards" test by their customer base. I think they have the Sampsonsite Gorilla doing their unboxing and set-up for fishing rods.

Sorry, meant to quote Fishingking. He says that WM does not sell quality products. Implying a Falcon Rod from WM is a lesser product? I absolutely agree that they mishandle their products. Would be more worried about a fragile product like a rod from them than say a reel or a lure. And for information or advise? Forget about it. Sometimes seems like they take a guy from the oil change bay or door greeter and move him into sporting goods for the day. Sometimes seems like that @ Academy too when you have a tech question! But Falcon rods @ WM would still be worth a look.
