I have only used drift socks in the past and my new ride has a Terrova with iPilot. Is there a way to drift sideways with it? Any help would be appreciated.

I have several times,it works great depending on wind. Sometimes I still use a drift sock out the back for better control. You will just have to experiment with it.

I do!
I use the ipilot to provide steering to keep my sideways drift on dropoffs and creek channels.
I also use it to "hover" over humps and dropoffs.
when there is not wind, I use it to troll. sometimes I use planer boards to get a spread behind the boat.
ipilot is a game changer!

We have been using a regular ipilot for a couple years now. Just upgraded to a link system and can't wait to use that on the river ledges this winter

So how slow do you try to go in the winter when drifting/trolling the river ledges? Or do you just suspend the baits under the boat and hover in place?

I do both. If im drifting with five or six rods out, and I get a double or triple hit...i might hover over that spot for a bit to see if I can pick up more, they are there for reason.
I have a couple of favorite deep structures I hover over especially after serious cold snaps, because the shad and cats will bunch up on them. when the cats are scattered I drift more. the ipilot helps with all of these techiques.

here is a neat trick, drop your ipilot in the water and hit record, then drive along a creek channel or drop off with you big motor on idle to map the course you want to troll. save the course you just mapped to your remote, and then turn the big motor off and you can use your ipilot to slowly work it back and forth, stopping and hovering if you get a fish ot two, or working short stretches back an forth, using the go to start and go to end and spotlock buttons. you can keep your bait over good structure like humps or dropoffs or creek channles effectively with an ipilot! as for speed, .5 or .6 mph when cold, up to 1mph when water is warmer,

Yup! I'm the pilot. See the oars on my boat? Gets it done. Old school!
