The morning started off a little rough when my would be fishing partner no showed on me. I remember Brad Shufflin mentioned having an open back seat so I begged my way onto his boat for the tournament. Turned out to be a really great day.

I'll let him tell you about falling off the boat, but I was pretty impressed when he caught a small mouth AND a spot on the same cast. Smallie on the front treble and spot on the back! Was a great time, and I enjoyed the heck out of meeting everyone.

Thanks again Brad!

Here's some pics:

Thanks for posting bud, glad you had a good time and brought home some money. You also have some good stories to tell now about having to rescue me out of the lake and seeing 2 fish caught on a crankbaits in 1 cast. We will go again soon I'll be painting tomorrow and will get you some baits made up. I know what you don't have so that's what I will paint you.

Great report, hey Brad when are you gonna start guiding for smallies on RR? I would love to go and catch a few smallies or maybe we could swap out a trip. I'm in east Texas and fish all over. Athens has been on fire l
ately, but I also fish fork,Palestine,Tyler,Hawkins and other east Texas lakes weekly. You've been smacking the smallies pretty good here lately.Great job

Man I'm far from being on the smallie to make a trip of it. I'm good for 1 or 2 per trip, I actually had another one chase the bait to the boat that was about the same size as this one. I'm still searching for a bigger school of them, but that might not exist yet. I did catch some 6-8 inch smallies on Thursday so that was a positive thing I hope they continue to spawn and in a few years it could be really good.

We probably caught 50 short fish today and it's just going to get better with the lake back up and more cover for the little fish to hide in.

I had to take off the lucky shirt along with just about everything else after I went overboard, if it would have been much colder I would have probably called it a day. Sure kept hoping the sun would come out to warm me up 62 degree water and air temp made for a cool day on the water soaking wet. Headed to see about replacing my phone and ecig now frown at least we won so it should cover phone insurance and ecig replacement. I lost a loom is and quantum pt combo overboard and reached a little to far to get it back and in I went and knocked 3 more loom is rods overboard in the process. Luckily when I came back up I had all 4. Really glad josh was there to help me back in the boat. This happened about 830 and he was nice enough to suggest going home. I told him we had 5 in the boat and a long time left to upgrade and that's what I wanted to do. We upgraded slowly through the day and josh caught our big fish at about 1 that really put us in the money was probably a 3.5lb cull.

Congrats! Sorry about your spill. I was at Academy in Frisco looking at tackle bags Saturday night when someone came up asking what to buy for fishing RayBob the next day. I am hoping everyone's advice in the various threads lately helped him get on some fish: mid divers/square bills in a Shad color, white spinnerbaits, and my addition, the drop shot.

I didn't know there was small mouth in RR? Been seeing some pics but is this something in recent years?
