Wife and I recently bought a boat. She loves to catfish. We will be cat fishing mostly on amistad. Not asking for everyones hot spots. Just trying to figure out how to fish it and what baits to use. We fished it early this week and bottom fished but found out you get hung up all the time. Any help is appreciated thanks.

Your best bet on Amistad is to run up in the main lake arms and chum several holes and fish for channel cat, or fish up the devils river arm for flatheads using live perch. There are blues but they are very tough to find/catch in my experience...good luck

Thanks Smoky. That is what I was thinking about doing. Do people chum right under the boat and fish directly underneath or what. What about bait? Have tried Sure Shot Channel Cat Bait, but not enough experience to say if it works or not.

Get ya some Danny Kings punch bait and treble hooks. Chum a few areas around some brush, id say 5-7ft right now....chum 4-5 spots, then turn around and go fish the first spot...good luck

No don't fish straight under the boat, toss up near the brush where you chummed...little slip cork works good
