I caught some on frogs in the river a couple weeks ago. Flipping trees in the mouths of canals/ditches caught some too.
Ran into a guy that said he had been doing really well cranking flats along the river

Stay away from the Louisiana side...LOL. I spent three days over there last week and to say I was disappointed in the fishing would be an understatement. Oh, and one more thing. The next time I hear someone say, "Just pitch up against the trunk of the cypress trees, let your bait sink down into the root system and cypress knees, and HANG ON!"...I am going to punch him in the mouth. I did that about 500 times and caught one fish. But maybe they were killing them on the cypress tree pattern the day before and the day after I left...
Seriously, though, it seemed like most of the guys who fished the tournament ran 10-20 miles from the ramp in Louisiana to the Texas side to fish.

Lol at Razorback! I guess we were there at the same time! Pitched at a few hundred trees myself and never got bit! We fished the pads and grass and had 4 keepers and 3 of them were unders. My partner decided to throw a 10" power worm and on the second pitch, caught an 8.55... Never got another bite on it!

Congratulations, Couples Team. Did y'all get big bass? I never saw posted who and what won big bass. We caught four fish on Friday, all solid slot fish up to 17.75 inches, but no keepers. After sitting through that pouring rain and lighting and zeroing, and looking at the forecast for Saturday, for the first time in my life I quit and went home before the second day.

We got big fish for Friday! The rain was a little brutal! We got last place check which I'm thankful! 44lbs for 2 days is tough to beat! Congrats to the guys that found them!

We probably had 30 or so last Wednesday cranking trees in Jeems. Then Friday stayed out all the guys fishing the tourney way, had another 10-12 spinnerbait, flipping and cranking main lake trees with wind in Texas. Lake came up a foot I'm told. Frog bite first thing then go put troller down and fish windy banks with moving baits.

Texas side is normally where u need to fish to win on Caddo. I can tell u bout 60 boats passed us Friday morning running to Texas side of lake! Lol. We fished a point and counted them so we would stay out way for y'all and not hurt someone's fish

If you go up James on the la side about half way back on the east side are some coves throw a speed craw with a light weight on the under water stumps then at the base of the trees if you go to the river and the sun it out go punching with 1 1/2 beaver black and you can't go wrong with a frog out there!!

Go to the river and fish some of the small off chutes or cuts with a small crank or spinnerbait, etc.

I have fished Caddo too many times to count. I absolutely love it. One of the only things i miss about living in Shreveport. Caddo is all about patience, HB frogs in lilly pads, wacky power worms, pegged creature baits, 1/2 oz blk/blue jigs w/ chart. dip for trailer, banging cranks off trees, etc. Fish are unpredictable as far as the bite goes, but you always know where they are, i have spent 30-45 min at one cypress tree and have it finally pay off with a big bite. My recommendation, my buddy is a guide at Caddo, his name is Justin Woodall. Look him up on FB, he may be on here, but i am not sure. I recommend having him take you out, or send him some questions and he will give you everything that he can to make it a successful trip. Super nice guy, will go out of his way to help.

Seriously, though, it seemed like most of the guys who fished the tournament ran 10-20 miles from the ramp in Louisiana to the Texas side to fish. I took my boys there 1 time and couldn't get a bite. Was throwing a tx rig lizard. Stopped after a while and put on a sinker head that had a screw part on it to screw your bait to the weight, basically pegging your bait. That's all it took, 1 fish after another after that !!!

I fished the tournament last weekend also. had 10 lbs (2 overs) day one and me and my partner weighed only 2 unders on day 2 so we ended up poorly in the tournament. With that said we had a lot more fun day 2 catching between 15-20 slot fish. Most of these were in the upper end of the slot. We caught these pitching trees before the James Bayou (east side) area were the floating grass was not. Had several nice fish on frogs when we found bunched up Lily pads. Most fish came pitching around the trees though. Red bug was the best color for us.
