So here in about two weeks I'm gonna try and take my kayak down below possum kingdom to hopefully catch some catfish and striper. But I have no idea how to target catfish in rivers, especially small rivers like that stretch is.

I'm probably going to start my search in the river bends and locate the deeper holes with some wood in them. And I'll be using shad and bluegill of course!

What other kinds of information could you guys give me?

If you can get some big gizzard shad pull the gizzards out and fish them on the bottom for some eater channels. Shad gizzards are some of the best bait there is for running water.

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

Get some bait before you leave and put it on ice. That river is a one throw kinda place with a cast net, one throw and it's gone.

I've caught a lot of good striper there over the years. Beautiful place no doubt. Spending time there is true medicine reguardless if one catches fish or not. thumb

Awesome man! If all else fails, you can always catch dink striper with a couple keepers mixed in.
