Most of the time I am good about quoting the numbers and quality of fish I catch.
The kind of lures, the places on Athens etc etc
But I think it is time for me to go on my little vacation to LV.
7am--11:30am
I hit my 5 best spots and then some that I know about but usually don't have time for. Not one bite, threw all the things that I know that Athens bass like and nada.
when I left at 11;30 talk to 2 more "old timers" and 1 had 2 fish in 4 hours & one had, like me, zero.

I know a loose slot machine at Harrah's you need to hit while your there.

Just on of those days. They should be biting with the big rains expected for tomorrow. But with the rise last week and the leveling off probably shut them off. Talked to a friend that went yesterday and he said he caught 14 and was there from 6am-2. He was throwing swimbaits on the edges of grass. Athens will be on fire in the next couple of weeks

On Athens for 5 hours today, one Dink. Tried everything.

On Athens for 2 hrs and only caught 4 2 around 1.5lbs and 2 smaller fish it was a hard day to get bit for sure

We were there from 8-1 and had 3 bass and a crappie. It was tough for sure, hardest time ive had on Athens

Fish from 10-2 today (showed up late and had to leave early) caught 8 dinks a good 2lber then a really solid 3lber. The bite was pain fully slow! Some guy at the boat ramp said he caught over 20... I believe he was talking out his A$$... Just my opinion!! I fish this lake 2-3 times a week. The bite seems like it is tapering Off... Going again for a full day tomorrow!

What is the current water temp at Athens. I was thinking of going tomorrow (Saturday) despite the rain. Now I am not sure if it is worth the drive. I might just go to Joe Pool and hit Athens next weekend. UMMmmmmm--what to do?

I seen every thing from 68-73 yesterday. Going this moring again. Will let you know

I too fished athens yesterday and you know how you can feel the fish just looking at your lures as they go by ? Yeah, that. Caught 4 in the 3lb range from sun up til 2pm. For Athens thats brutal. So don't feel to bad nutman you were in good company yesterday.

Thanks for the post. Had a rare opportunity to fish Thursday with my son. We went to Fork ALL DAY and it was a woopin. Ended up with a few fish ALL DAY. While he picked Fork we mentioned several times through the day that we wished we had invested the day in Athens. Blue bird sky the day after that mild windy front on Wednesday, full moon, heavy rains last weekend...I don't know what the problem was but it was a beating. Thanks for posting. Dont know why but for some reason it makes me feel better that your day sucked too! :-)

I guess with this report and the current weather, I will wait to go to Athens. Next weekend looks like it might be ok. Thanks for the info.
