Will crappie still bite when a lake is releasing water? I have heard both yes and no. What do you think?i

If you are talking about like at a dam discharge I have done really well at joe pool dam right at the discharge hole I'm talking crappies jumping into oncoming water and slamming a jig!!! It was a lot of fun! I've also had good luck in slack water next to discharge at several areas!!!

Have had a couple of great days behind a dam discharging water. Trick is to get enough weight to get your bait down and not too much so you are always hanging up...
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Wait there is 2 different types of fishing .Below the dam and above the dam. Yes the tailrace water is good but the main lake is bad for falling water. Our lakes they don't allow us below the dam.Darrell

My experience at NM when they are discharging water - wash your boat, tie jigs, reorganize your tackle box, check all the lights on your boat trailer, air up the tires, check lower unit grease and last but not least, take your wife out to eat and tell her.. "honey I want to be here with you than out on the lake catching crappie"... End of story!!!!
Crappie fishing... what else is there ??

Fishing is hard. It's harder if you're stupid. God is good all the time ... and all the time God is good.

Even though the lake was over 3 feet above normal level and releasing water at 5600cfs, we caught 10 nice crappie and 15 or 16 throwbacks. All on jigs from brush piles 14 to 15 feet deep, any deeper you couldn't even get a bite.
