I've never been in a carp tourney or even watched one, I first did some research into this topic and found a few different ways to do the tourney. One with measuring boards- kayak style, and one with a weigh in- boat style. The problem I have with boards is they cost money, and come in a wide variety of brands. The weigh in thing would be a problem because I don't want people to harm the fish (i.e. Put on a stringer all day then left out of water prior to weigh and release.). I just want a friendly competition where contestants just pay to enter and not for any other stuff like a board. I have a couple of scales and was thinking of having a volunteer go around and weigh fish all day but is there a better way? And what would be the limitations? Like what's the standard for a carp tourney? Maximum amount of fish? Minimum requirements for a fish? How many lines out? And anything else I might be overlooking? Thanks for reading, any and all feedback will be much appreciated.

most are done from the bank. We use "keepsacks" to store the fish in the water until a marshal can come verify the weight of the fish. each marshal will have a scale that has been pegged with the other marshal's scales. We use 3 rods normally. most of the time we have no minimum size but some tourneys have a 5lb limit. The new fad in carp tourneys is the biggest 4 fish wins. We have preset location what will be fished and have people draw numbers then envelopes with the location they will be fishing.

here is a standard style tourney

Thanks, ScottEvil good info. I like the marshall idea, and thanks for the link.
