 High-speed Reels for Frogs

I dearly love to fish both Ribbits and HB frogs, but I know that I've been handicapping myself by using a reel with a fairly low retrieve ratio. I'm in the market for a high-speed baitcasting reel, but am undecided between a 7.1:1 and a 9.1:1. What do you "frog experts" use and recommend, and why?

Shimano Metanium XG I personally use this reel. If I'm paying $400+ for a reel it better be worth it. And this reel is definitely worth it! It has a Micro Module Gear System which makes this reel smooth as butter. It casts light frogs very far and the super high speed really helps take up the slack line. I'd say it handles big line and braided line better than any other reel I've ever owned. Definitely worth the money!

I find that I love Shimano Curados for frogs. The new Revos did not hold up to the abuse. I Like the lews heavy duty, but the handles bend easily on hooksets. The aluminum or brass screw on the Curados will strip out sometimes. I have spares, but I have been meaning to look for a Stainless alternative.

7:1-8:1 are the only speeds I have tried. The 7:1 is easier to walk a spro on a 8' rod. It is impossible to get a reel to fast for the Ribbit.

The Metanium XG is 8.5:1 Thank you for your recommendation, but that reel is available in 3 gear ratios - which gets back to my original question: Which one? The Metanium XG is 8.5:1

Revo Rocket @ 9:1 is a great reel and you can find deals on the Internet for WAY less than retail. I use it on a frog rod but where it really shines for me is throwing a buzz bait.

Johnny Morris Signature Series for me with a 7.1.1 on a St. Croix Frog Rod. 65 Power Pro Slick for line.

Lews tournament MB or super duty in 8:1. The first being $115 on eBay and later is around $140 or so I believe. I was going to use a speed spool model but the two I mentioned have stronger drags which you'll need on a frog rod. I went with the MB 8:1 and love it.

If you've never used more than that, it will be very awkward at first. And 8:1 reel cranks that bait in damn fast.

Thanks to each of you who responded to my question. I think I've almost decided to get the Lew's Tournament MB. At my age (73), I doubt that I'll wear it out fishing 2 days a week max.

For the record I've tried a ton of different reels out there and different ratios. I've stuck to the Shimano Curado 200 DHSV (7:1). I did change the handle to a larger handle which helps a lil I think.
The Lews MG just doesn't have strong enough drag system for fishing in nasty stuff IMO. I used the Diawa Zillion for a while as well but I didn't see any major difference in performance to my curados so I sold the Zillion and bought 2 more Curados with that money.
