Fished a couple of hill country rivers before the rains came and the bite was "ON FIRE"! Caught a bunch of Redbreast,Hybrid Sunfish,Redear, and some nice bass. The Redbreast and Hybrids were all in the 7 to 8 inch range. The Redear were in the 10 inch range. The bass were in the 2 pound range. Fished from 9am till 2pm and caught over 50 fish. Fish were healthy and full of fight. The water was clear with a good current. Fish were holding by grass beds in 5 to 6 feet of water. Fish were caught using worms with a bottom technique. All fish were released to fight again. Getting some fishing time in before the rains came. It just don't get any better. fish

Im willing to bet that much of stream/river fishing will recover rapidly from the big rains....after next week we may all be fishing smaller water.

Love those crystal clear water Hill Country Rivers. And the scenery is picture post card beautiful! Miss the Hill Country. Hopefully this spring the Pedernales will have enough water to host a big white bass run out of Travis, like in the old days, and I will get to sample it! I have seen deer, javelina, coyotes, hawks, osprey, wild turkey, bobcat and golden eagles in that beautiful Hill Country! Of course, that was BEFORE all the developers starting riding roughshod over the land. Ah well, progress, I guess some call it.

Thanks Rudy for the reply. cheers Yes Sir the hill country is loaded with awesome places to fish. I have fished the Perdernales River several times this year and the river where I fish is in GREAT shape. The area also has gotten a lot of RAIN and is expected to get a bunch more during the winter. Spring in the hill country is shaping up to be a very good one. thumb
