Hey folks, With all the rain, decided to stay home and make rigs and reclean my reels.
I have this Curado 200G7 (I know, it's carp compared to the older Curados).
I haven't used it in a long time, but the spool tension Knob won't work anymore. It screws in and out fine, but the spool keeps spinning as if there's zero tension on it. So I'm begging for a major overruns, birdsnest, and backlash.
The spring inside isn't broken
Anything else I can do?

I put a bandage to the problem.
I got a piece of paper towel and wadded it between the spring and knob.
Tested it out in the backyard. Working fine. For now.

Did the shim fall out of the cap when you took it off?

I tried that, but no improvement.

Did the shim fall out of the cap when you took it off? Still on there. I'm thinking the spring and shim are worn out.

Cut a small piece of plastic from a water bottle, about an 1/8 inch square piece. Should do the trick.

I have never cleaned the G series reels so this might not help any.
On the older curados (bantams) the spring under the cap just sat on top of the bearing. On the E series you had to press the spring into the bearing housing. It would not just fall into place. If the g series curados are like the E series you will need to use a screw driver to press the bottom of the spring into place or it will not work right. If this is not the the case with the G series than disregard my comment.

The wider side fits flush on the knob, while the smaller side sits flush with the bearing. If I put it the other way around, I'll have to force it in. I dont want to end up messing up the spring. I'll see if I can post pics.

B--asspro99 I think has figured it out.
Turn the spring the other way. The bigger end needs to go into the side cover. The smaller side goes against the knob.
