I only talk on the phone while I'm "at work".

Hey, I'm just having fun, I don't fish for a living, i do like to take it serious, but I won't allow myself to not enjoy it. We've all had those days where we go hours without a bite, I just prefer to not do mine in silence.

I will say that extensive scientific human-factors testing over many decades has yielded the same clear conclusion over and over. It has shown that multi-tasking always brings with it a handicap/penalty for the most important task being performed while multi-tasking. In other words, ONE thing is considered the focus point, and all others are relegated to distraction status. What Razorback witnessed was a real-world example of the test conclusion.
Lol scientific research. That "guy".

Agree with everything you said. I take my phone with me but only to have a way to make a call if something goes wrong.
I'm amazed at how attached some people have become to their phones. But I'm older, may be an age thing. Im the same way but not age with me though.

I'd be irritated if my partner were on the phone the whole time. It's disrespectful. I get occasional business calls no big deal there. If I fish with someone else it's to learn, to teach, or for companionship. None of that is facilitated by listening to a chatty Kathy talk on the phone the whole time. I'd say something and if they didn't like it, it would be my last time out with them.

You fish long enough and your body goes into auto-hookset mode. Music, audio book or conversation can't shut down the auto-hookset...heck, I've set the hook in a dream more than once. If you're worried about missing a strike you should probably not let yourself get distracted. Focus and don't talk.

Some guys just don't get it and I guess they never will, kinda like those wake boats blaring loud music all over the lake just doesn't seem natural. I guess some people are just so used to having something going/noise all the time, that without it they're some how bored. I've been alot of things on a boat bassfishing and bored isn't one of them. Catching fish or not, I enjoy the chase/pursuit. Hell sometimes I like the tough bite as opposed too back to back action.Makes me step my game up and ultimately a better fisherman because I have to try different lures and presentations that I normally wouldn't fish.

Right before I get in the boat to back down the ramp, I put my wallet and cell phone in a waterproof box and normally it does not come out until I put the boat on the trailer at the end of the day.
Last March I was fishing a tournament on Athens and it was raining like crazy. Did the same thing as usual, (put my phone and wallet in the container) but for some reason about 1:00 I looked at my phone and I had a just gotten a text from my wife. It just said call me! So I did. Five hours later, I was a Grandpa. My daughter gave birth to our first grandchild (a boy) a full month early. I made it to the hospital just in time to kiss her as they shooed us out of the room as the Doctor came in.
Glad I checked my phone. Missed weigh-in "Oh Well".

I talk on my phone and text whenever I get ready. I don't care who don't like it.
