Do you have a special reel or rod that always seems the one to get bit?
I sure do so: Reel would be a Penn 309 of my fathers it always seems to get fish reguardless of who is fishing it.
Rods it would be an old Fenwick graphite of my fathers, it is the best feeling dead stick rod I ever fished and just seems to get hit 2:1 over all my others. The reel seat is very worn and the foot has to be shimmed to get a tight fit, and 2 of the line guides don't match the rest. It has been worn out 2 times and still fishing.

I haven't noticed that, but will be very happy once it starts.
I had a dull Spring fishing season, not nearly enough caught, and have been jacked up all Summer due to injuries. This Autumn should turn it around...

Could be that that Fenwick is the rod you fish the most.

7' MH Eagle is all that is readable, I do not like fast tips and this one is the same all the way down, it is in the 3rd set of guides I think and 2 don't match the others, these rods it seems were made for older reels with longer foots as the newer reels will not tighten up without shims. I used 2 reels on it a Millionaire and an original Quantum Burner which is on it now with 50# braid
