Ok so here we go:

1. Screens are extremely bright, like the Helix 7 for sure.
2. Screen covers are very thick, heavy and go on very tight. Would be surprised to see them blow off.
3. Both units boot up slower than the 7 but still a lot faster than the Onix. The menu fonts look exactly like the Onix.
4. I have both units ethernet connected to each other. You can subscribe to the Helix 10 SI transducer with the Helix 9 DI unit and you get SI on the Helix 9.
5. The units will share waypoints but not maps like the Onix.
6. If you can use a Core unit, you can use the Helix.
7. The units use the same power, ethernet and transducer cables as the core units.


So far not a single problem. I have not seen a 12 CHIRP unit so I have no information on them at all. I just had neck surgery so I've been able to run them a couple of times but no on the water pics yet. Will update as soon as I get some.

NO MORE WHITE BOXES!!! Under the set up menu you have a choice to have data boxes on, off, or overlay. Out of all the features, I think this is the best by far. You actually get exactly what you pay for now when it comes to screen space.

One other thing, the 9 and 10 units are physically the same size, the 9 just has a wider border around it.

So why can't i find on the Bird website that any of the helix units ethernet?
Had I known that, I would have bought one instead of another 9 series to link to my 998 on the console.

Nevermind, now I found it. [censored]. I just bought a 959 because none of the Helix units 2 weeks ago networked. I wasn't happy at that time about it either.
My thought was, why build a new improved technology unit that doesn't network.
Stupidity on Bird's part.
If It wasn't for linking my graphs to my iPilot and using Lakemaster which is better than Navionics, I'd go to Lowrance. Because the Motorguide is definitely better than the Minnkota with spot lock.

I'm very interested in seeing the 360 images on one of these units ...

Does the SI model have a dedicated DI crystal or is the DI generated like the core units?

No dedicated crystal. The Helix 10 SI I have came with the same HDSI transducer as the core units. Think of the Helix as a little faster, much brighter Core unit.
