Must wear all day and not be hot being able to cast too. I don't want to but must do it. Do they cut into your neck. I'm 6'6" and weigh 325. Do you think they will go around me? Need your help to make the correct buy. Need input from you that wear them. Want an automatic/manual.

The best pfd is the one you will wear. I tried several and finally settled on the following one from Academy. These go for close to $100 at other stores and I think I paid close to $80 for mine at Academy a couple of years ago. They're apparently only $60 now.

It is light and you hardly know you have it on. It is automatic/manual. My only complaint was that it did not have a good place to attach the kill switch lanyard but I just added a large split ring to one of the straps.

Thanks cowtown. They don't cost much do they. They don't allow you to order them on line. Said store pick up only at select stores only.

I use the Onyx A/M 24 from Academy. It is very comfortable, I wear it all day long and never notice it is there. It was on sale so my wife bought it for me for Christmas last year.

The most important thing is make sure it is comfortable for you so you will wear it and it fits properly, you don't want it to come off should you need it.

Yes, but you have a store right there in town if you live in Lubbock. And if they do not have it in-stock, ask an associate to find one for you in another store and they will ship it to your house. I have a buddy who works there who turned me on to this. They call it "more options".

Thank you one and all. Just today bought two Onyx A/M 24 from Academy along with a refill. My fishing buddy passed out and fell in at night on 10-16-15. I know my time is comming so buying the Onyx was a must. I want to make sure I live to fish another day or night. I'm so big it looks like a thong on an elephant butt. As long as it keeps my head above water i'm good to go. Thanks again for your help. TFF works for us when we need help.I'm setting here watching fishing on tv with it on trying to get use to it. Luck to all of you. Set the hook first and ask questions later.

Jarfish I am a big boy too and I have an Onyx. We may look funny wearing a PFD but it could save our lives one day and that is all that really matters.

I'm 260 myself and use that same Onyx. Fits well and have no problem fishing all day in it. Just don't make the mistake of leaving it in a storage compartment in a hard rain.

I'm 6'6" 325lb and it looks like a childs size when i put it on. You can see friends fighting laughter. If i had any feelings they would be hurt. lol I have been married three times so any feelings I once had are gone. Thanks guys. Yall pulled me through this thing. They were only $80 each and $20 for the recharge kit. I'll feel better with it own after my friend did that nose dive at night into the drink. With this thing on you will end up being embarrassment rather than drown if you hit the water. Now that i'm single I have something to live for. clap

I have the Onyx. I know it works. At Fort Gibson this past season, I slipped into the water loading my boat after practice. I was kinda humiliated. Dunked my phone too. 450 miles from home. And yep, the PFD did the auto inflate act. Lol. Sucked. So the. I not only got to go buy a burner phone, I also got to go the Broken Arrow to get a new refill.

Oh. It happened AFTER I was so careful not to get my phone wet. I set my phone on the boat deck so as not to get it wet. Then I got in the jeep and went "hmmmm where is my phone". So I walked back to the boat, still on the ramp. Grabbed it and slipped. Busted my [censored]. Dropped the phone. Caused a big scene. Then my PFD blew up like an air bag.

Awesome.

I have been setting around watching tv with this PFD on to see if get accustom to it. It's very light even with the co2 charge installed. It's so small and thin you are not bothered with it. Somewhat like having a folded hand towel around your neck. No good way to clean other than a damp cloth. Then it said to rinse well with fresh water. How do you get that rinse to work with the automatic engagement promped by water?
