I've heard the fishing sucks out there now. I think I heard they killed a lot of the grass. Could be wrong on that. Try searching the last 12 months in this section. Good luck!

It's officially the Dead Sea now...the grass carp and loud mouths killed it.

Was there two Monday's ago.. It absolutely sucked! 1 bite all day. Was a 3 pound bass off a single stump I found on Sidescan. No other bites in brush, reeds, points, dock, or ramp! Will not go back for a long long time!

Something happened to it last year. It was always tough for me but once I figured it out it was just about my favorite lake. Starting spring of 2014 I couldn't catch the size or numbers I used to. I will say I haven't been in a long time. Maybe it will come back.

Indeed they did kill most of the grass. It was getting to me too much but they killed too much. Water has always been pretty dark if not muddy. 2-3 years ago I would catch at least one 4-6lb fish every trip. I had that lake figured out but once I heard about the grass kill, I didnt go back and still havent been to this day. By November I would go to Monti for big fish or welsh for numbers. Oh, and I wouldn't go to Athens. Once the water gets cooler the fish die off. Spring sucks too. They come back to life around Summer time next year..

Last year we fished all day and i only caught 1 2lb bass under a laydown. Pads were really pretty but no fish on them either. Still debating on giving it a try or not.

I live within a mile of the lake. I can say something has definitely happened to mill creek. I have spoken to the biologist of mill creek. There last survey of the lake he told me that they were very disappointed with the survey. I've spoken to the game warden also and he said the same thing. It's not like it use to be at all. I've heard all kinds of rumors from fish kill to city spraying the vegetation and killing them. I've even heard a rumor of guys running gill nets. The biologist doesn't believe there was a fish kill because there are so many shad in the lake. They would have been the first to go because they are so fragile. That makes sense to me, but the bass seem to have disappeared. I'm just hopeing it's just going through a cycle and it will bounce back quickly. Lakes go through cycles. You'll have great years, good years, and bad years. You can still catch a few but you have to work hard for them.

Summer of 14' I watched 2 guys catch 10-15 good slots, 3-6 pounds, off the bank and they went into 5 gallon buckets and they left before I could call and report it. 2 weeks later the same guys were in the same spot and I called the sheriff's office and they told me they would pass the word on the TPWD. I fished for a few more hours and never saw anyone show up.
If those 2 guys were keeping 10-15 slots out of that small lake 8-12 days a month for 6 months out of the year, they alone could devastate the population of brood fish for the lake in a 1-2 year time. It would not be hard to do fishing live bait, like they were, and the spot they were in is a good early morn big fish spot.
I've also been told by several people that they have witnessed numerous people keeping slot sized fish from the lake.
It's a shame, used to be a gem of a lake...

Yes that would definitely put a dent in the population of bass. What gets me is that it's hard to catch a dink out there. I'm sure the 500 or more water turkeys that I've seen out there the past couple of winters have ate there share of little ones.
