we fished the flooded nueces river for gar normaly where the cows graze. the water was only a few feet deep but the gar were thick. we ended up catching and releasing 8 black alligator gar 1 regular alligator gar and 1 spotted gar.

it can get crazy especialy with a double hook up banana banana the only diffrence I can see is color. this streach of river holds the most black gar of any other part of the nueces river we have fished

I would enjoy fishing the Nueces. Fly rod to catch some gills and gear to catch gar.
