As far as quality goes what do you guys think? I know that both rods are about as good as it gets when it comes to fishing rods. I know alot more about loomis than i do dobyns. I cant find any factor tours of dobyns. Are these rods made over seas? I have a champion and its put together really well, great rod. The champ extreme has better components than that. anyone know about the champ extreme rod blanks? I cant find anything about them online or their website as to how they are made or where they are made at. Looks like a fine rod though. I see one in my future. I am talking about the extreme model that they just discontinued because of a newer model that came out at tacklewarehouse.

I like the Extremes. I have 8 of them. I had one GLX many years ago and it broke easily. I always liked the IMX better than the GLX and for me the GLX wasn't worth the extra $100. Now I haven't used any of the new Loomis rods so I don't know how they compare.

Dobyns rods are made in China. Every G.Loomis blank and rod is made in Woodland, Washington.

I'm not bashing Chinese rods by any means, I own plenty, including some Dobyns. That particular factory is one of the top 2 rod factories in China and a lot of good brands are built there. Not all Chinese rods are made equal.

THANKS T54, I know the 804 champion rod i have is put together extremly well. if i didn't know better i would think it was made in japan. I expect the extreme rod to be at least equal to that quality.

I'm gonna catch hate for this one but here's my take.
I don't know why any one buys dobyns or loomis rods if they have used others in the same price point.
I got hung up in the hype and ordered some Glx and nrx. At the end of the day i like my kistlers better price point for price point.
I really don't find any reason to get better than klx series. My helium 3's are a little lighter, a little better feel but really no real significant advantage. Same with the zbones. I like it, but there is no significant benefit for price point.
I'm not even sure where my nrx is currently. I think it's on my rod rack as back up I the garage. My stump grinder has been catching hell lately for flipping duties.

I've had a few GLX's for 3 years, bought them used, and they're the best built toughest rods I have. The Dobyns I've had for about 18 months. I broke the tip on one and I know it was a manufacturer defect but it was about as easy for me to just send in the $$ for the no hassle return. Even though they may be prone to more quality control issues than Loomis, I prefer the dobyns for it's overall feel/sensitivity. And yes... all factories in China are not equal.
