I've seen a couple of posts about the " new " Mountain Fork with the changes from the flood. I haven't had the chance to get up there yet but I'm anxious to. They did get me to remenising about the "old" river and I started going through my photos from the last twenty years. I pulled out some of my favorites and had treebasscatcher do some editing work for me. Some of the pics aren't the best from a technical standpoint but they have meaning to me and the song is one that I would listen to while driving through the park " checking things out". I thought it turned out pretty good and wanted to see if it brougt back any memories for you guys.

Cool pics. I'll be up there in two weeks. Curious to see what it looks like now.

i've been up three times now since the flood. I love the river, post and pre flood. However I enjoyed it more before. I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority on this, but for me it's about what the flood did to the banks, trees, and rocks. It is so hard to get around in some areas and I'm a pretty active hiker. When I go I like to power fish like crazy. I commonly will hike about 3-4 miles just getting around those spots and back again. Spillway is such a beatdown to hike up and down now. The jagged shale and angled wash out make your ankles hate you the next day. However as far as the river goes now there are a lot of new and interesting spots to fish. More fast tail sections, deeper eddys, forget what you know about a 3-4 foot indicator. Either forget an indicator completely or move it way up. Fish were feeding just below surface or way deep two weekends ago. Anyway have a good time Capt. Mac. It is still as pretty as ever. Oh and enter the first park entrance, it will make it easier on getting around.

Thanks guys!
Been thinking about making a trip up there soon but the people I've talked to say it's REALLY crowded with the fall activities going on up there.
I remember back in the early nineties waking up Saturday mornings in the summer and telling my wife that I'm going to run up there for an over nighter, grabbing my rods and a tent an rushing out the door. You could spend Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning and not see to many people. You do that now and you may not find a camp spot.

So middle of the week would be the time to go... hmmm

I am interested in heading up there as I have never fished for trout, as I have only fished locally on the fly.

Thank you Mr. Wood

Middle of the week is always a good time go - just about anywhere.

I'm heading up there tomorrow. I will try to post a report but the internet is sketchy up there. We will mostly be kayaking south from Presbyterian Falls but I might get some wade/flyfishing time in.

does the river move slow enough that you can paddle back up stream? I fish mostly from a paddle board and it would be nice to be able to launch and exit from one spot.

The water was flowing well but you could paddle back upstream fairly easily. Only managed one fish on state park run.
