Anybody ever use gizzard shad on the coast for any type of fish? Did they work or not?

Don't know what kind of shad it was, but we cast netted a bucket load of 5-6 inch shad and caught bull reds for 2 days.
We caught 80 plus fish.
Look for "Red crappie" thread in crappie section.

Sounds like you had a good time. I'm supposed to be down around Sealy the 2nd week of next month and thought about taking some shad to try. Thanks for the info.

The shad we netted was in the surf.
Take a cast net and catch your bait in the surf.
