I showed up at my slip yesterday and found people fishing it and around it (no big deal because I fish other slips too), however one guy had his fish basket in my slip! I understand fishing other peoples slips but I don't understand nor do I think that putting your basket or any other gear in someones slip...There are plenty of open water spots to put a basket RIGHT BEHIND my slip. My question to y'all is would this upset you or am I being too sensitive?

I just walked away as I don't want to make enemies out there, I did make sure they knew it was my slip though.

I met you and your a huge fella. Ummm I wouldn't fish your slip just incase you might slightly not appreciate it. bolt

In all seriousness I'd have a polite chat with them about how you feel about the situation.

I don't know thru experience but I've heard a stringer or basket in the area your fishing can hinder a bite.

If you told them it was your slip, common courtesy would be to move.

Kind of a give and take situation. All those fishing should be paying members of the marina. If not, then you may have an argument.

I heard but I may be wrong that the marina allows people to fish the slips if they pay $20 for the day... don't know if that is true or not.

Hahaha... I am a gentle giant Tommy! I just know that if I was in someones slip and they showed up I would move my gear. I guess I am a different breed. LOL

I would hope not. That would make me not want to stay at that marina.

Cover your slip with a tarp. If they move your equipment/property (tarp) to fish then I would have a problem with it for certain. You paid money for that slip, not them. and yeah if they had their basket in my slip I would have a problem with that too.

And any marina that lets non-slip owners fish other people's slip is not a marina that I would give my money to.

I am not certain on the pay for the day thing, it's just something I heard. I don't mind the fishing in my slip part, shoot most of my fish are caught in other slips, it was the basket in my slip that set me off. I don't need a basket of caught fish telling all their friends "It's a trap, don't fall for it!!!" LOL

Sounds like its a big slip community, where everyone fishes everywhere. Wouldn't think twice about it, and keep on going. Fished slips for years at marinas and you gotta put your basket or stringer somewhere when your fishing that area for a bit. No worries.

Just need to read the rules of your marina. When I had a slip, others could fish my slip when I wasn't there. They could also fish it when I was there if I gave permission. But usually when I showed up to fish and someone I did not know was fishin my slip, I requested they leave. I paid the slip rent, brushed out the slip, placed the tarps and I fully expected to be able to fish it when I wanted too!

Also, when I had my slip, I could bring visitors up to a certain number. But, Marina rules required they fish the slip of the person they were a guest of and didn't have free roaming access to other slips. Only paying marina tenants had that right.

I guess the biggest part of it is the basket sitting in the slip was over some of our structure we put in so that took away one area of my slip I wanted to fish. Next time I will politely ask them to move the basket, after that I will resort to dropping elbows on them from the top ropes!!! #UltimateSlipFighting

I suppose that you could politely explain to the person that they or their basket is occupying a certain area of your slip and that you would like to fish it . To which they just might reply " How do we know for certain that it`s yours"????? Here it comes realmad I would just politely sit myself down where I wanted to fish and fish.

Well they knew it was my slip because we have a locker on the slip that I intentionally opened and removed gear from to emphasize they were on my slip. LOL

Well, were you fishing that day? If you were fishing and wanted that spot ,I can see your point. If not I would have just blown it off.
