Fished Dunlap today from 8:30 til 2:30. Water temp was 72 degrees early & 74 degrees at 2:30. Fished the upper half from 1st island to just past that waterfront subdivision(the name escapes me). I really prefer fishing the clear water, just for the ambience. Fished nightcrawlers on the bottom with 6lb test. The bite was consistent all day...probably caught 50-60 sunfish of various kinds. Also got 1 bass around 2.5 LB and a 3 LB catfish. Had one catfish (I think) that I couldn't turn on my ultra lite Ugly Stick...finally broke off. No real pattern...some on docks, some under cypress trees etc. Ended up keeping five for the fry pan. The bite this fall is good, but nothing like last fall for bigger fish(at least for me). I believe the spring flooding has affected it, but that's just a guess.

Nice fish Vogey. I totally agree with you. The fall bite for me has been fair and I caught lot more big ones last year compared to this year. The floods did have an effect. Side Note: We are fixing to get hammered with RAIN starting Wednesday through Saturday. Forecasters are saying 6 to 10 inches of rain!

Banker...We really need the rain, but it seems that it is always feast or famine. Just hope it doesn't turn the water too muddy for too long. Hey, were you on the lake today ?

No I did not fish Dunlap today but I did fish it yesterday (Monday). I was further down by the dam. Water was muddy and the bite was very slow. Only stayed an hour. I did fish the Comal River and did pretty good there.

Great catch Vogey. The Fall bite is about 3 weeks behind where it was last year. We got those early cold fronts in September last year. Maybe the big ones will show up soon.

Banker...yesterday I decided to give the Comal a try, but really had no idea where to fish. So, I ventured down to Landa Park and tried a few areas. Started out at that little stream between the spring fed pool and the golf course. Then fished the bridge there by the train station. Next went over to the Hinman park above the water shoot. Caught a few beautifully colored sunfish all in the 3 inch range in all of those spots. My question is this...I know the Comal doesn't even travel 1 mile in length, so are there any other areas for public access ? Not looking for specific honey holes, just general info would be appreciated...Thanks
