I am looking for some recent temps. Let me know what lake you where on, when, and what the water temp was.

Ray Hubbard was 71.8 degrees 5-6 PM yesterday. I'm guessing for mid 60's after the weekend rain and front. We shall see.

I don't know of an exact temp that they turn over. I do think if we get some substantial rain this week that could kickstart the turnover on some lakes.

As the water temp cools to around 50 deg it will become more dense and start to sink. Depending on lake depth, winds, rains and other factors will determine when and if a lake actually turns over. Some shallow lakes never actually experience actual turn over they just cool off with cooler ambient temps and wind mixing the water. Once water temps reach 39.2 deg it will become less dense and stay on top until it eventually freezes and caps the lake. Water below the ice will never fall below 39.2 deg.

They should be heading to deep water when the temps drop below 60 deg. Some will be in shallow water on warm sunny days just before sunset all winter.
They go into survival mode in the lower 50's and will be in tight schools in the deeper warmest water they can find.
