Has anyone had experience with the toe switch stops working? I can set it to constant and the motor works great. I switch it to "momentary" and nothing. Any ideas on what it might be?

look for a broken wire. If that not It I say the switch is bad. If you know how put a volt meter and see if the switch is woking

Is this a 5 speed or a variable speed. The 5 speed uses a mechanical switch. The variable uses a reed switch that can be adjusted.

I have a 5 speed on mine and would like to change it to a variable speed. looks like the variable is a circuit board type. can it be just a part change?

It is several part changes, along with some rewiring. Will cost you around $250.00 in parts.
