Had a great day Saturday with beautiful weather. The wind must have shifted direction 5 or 6 times... but it didn't seem to matter.

BES was the color of the day. I even called Ken Gaby on the way home to thank him! cheers
He was telling me that it evolved from an old hand tie that he worked with Todd & Belinda at Thermocline Lures to develop.

Pile O' Crappie - Glen & I ended up keeping about 36

Ken was telling me that there is some green in there also. I only noticed the shad pattern and the blacker color and sparkle before, but looking closely, can see the green too. I'm sure it's also in real shad and crappie if you look really close in the light. They smack it!

A couple of good ones in the mix.

... and a few thick blacks.

Good times!

That top fish in the last picture was swimming close to 30mph when he ran smack dab into a big piece of concrete. You know what it said?

Thanks! Yes, we had a good time.

It is a simple overhand loop knot.
Love it. Easy to tie, strong and lets the jig 'swim' horizontal like a minnow. thumb
Also, will hold any big fish and not break. If you ever get hung and pull your hardest, it will not give at the knot.
Get the knot fairly close to the eye of the hook so it will not get hung up on the jig or the hook.
Run your line through the hook eye and make a loop with the two lines. Then put the hook/jig through that loop. Let the loop lay on the eye of the jig as you cinch it up fairly closely to the hook eye. (Kinda hard to write how to tie a knot.) cool

I started using about 20+ years ago. Learned it at a Barlow's Tackle Shop crappie seminar. I used to really like those... back in the day! lol
Before that, it was very frustrating and time consuming readjusting the clinch knot so the jig would 'swim' and hang horizontal instead of at an angle.

Good luck!!
