How do you decide what bait and color to put on it. I normally use a lizard, fluke, worm, or senko but it is pure guess as to what I use. Color is the same guessing game.

Any variation of watermelon seed or something chartreuse is what I will normally start with and go from there. Same colors as you would Texas rig.

All hand poured Watermelon/Red/Purple Flake and light green pumpkin with purple flake.

5 baits:
- find them with the fluke.
- Big fish come on the 10" worm
- go shallow with a senko
- go with a lizard in the Spring
- Capt. Grumpy Cat Tails (hand poured like the Tornado)

Whatever you have confidence in. In general, dragging it slowly feeling the weight in contact with the bottom. I like craws for crig, since I imagine they mostly crawl slowly along the bottom.

Black/blue in winter
Red and orange colors prespawn
Watermelon seed and blue gill colors during the spawn
More vibrant colors including chartreuse in the summer
Purple colors in the fall.

Other crig favorites include Lake Fork Tackle Ring Fry, Grande Bass Rattle Snakes and megatails, Brush Hogs.

I basically use 5 plastics on a rig and as far as color I let time of day, available light conditions and water color to chose! Even that said I basically have like 6 colors for all those baits!

Keep it simple. Throw a baby brush hog. Green pumpkin, watermelon red, or watermelon candy. Mainly green pumpkin!

Chartruce pepper ..lizard, rattle snake and baby snake, flukes shad color and watermelon colors, baby brush hogs and 10 inch worms. I throw a variety of colors on the 10inch worm and the baby brush hog.

Let the fish tell you what color to throw. Doesn't matter what we say.We all have our favorites and usually we will fish the color we like whether its catching fish or not.Don't be afraid to try different colors and always think outside the box. The fish will tell you what they want. That being said, as a general rule stained water darker baits, clearer water lighter colored baits is a good starting point. Sometimes when I'm catching fish really good on 1 color I will change colors just to see how the fish react to something different. Tightlines

Well you have to have a starting point. There are thousands of colors and different style baits out there. I have done best with chartruce pepper with LFT ring frys, french frys, rattle snakes, and lizards. Watermelon super flukes work well. You can C-rig just about any soft plastic. Baby brush hogs work well also.

I never threw a Crig until moving to Texas.. saw Bill Wilcox fishing on Benbrook with a Chartruese Pepper bait. I got some Grande Bass 4.75 Rattlesnake baits in that color and caught fish the first time out with it. I had no idea what the strike would feel like, so I missed a few but love the color.
