Saturday I had Glen, his friend Bobby, and 6 year old nephew Brantley, from San Marcos, out on Lake Somerville.
Winds were a little higher than forecast at 10+ mph at daylight. We moved around to find the fish. Found them in 12-15 foot water.
Brantley caught the first fish, the most fish, and the biggest fish at 5.75#.
He was quiet the little fisherman. I told him he would be a real good fisherman when he gets taller, so he can set the hook better, lol.
They ended the morning with 75 nice cats. All fish caught on Cj's Crawdad punch bait, some with cork some with tight lines.
Today I had Rick and his son Brendon, From Brenham, out on Somerville. Beautiful morning, light winds less than 10 mph. They just moved here from California and their boat and tackle are all in storage out west. They had never catfished with a rod and reel.
Winds were out of the east but old saying did not stop the bite today. We fished first spot and got about 20 fish. They did not want a boat load of fish to take home, so we pulled anchor and did a little fishing in new spots so they could see the lake some.
First spot produced no bites, next spot bite was on and they picked up another 21 fish, all nice 3-5# size.
They ended the morning with 41 cats, 30 of which were over 3#. All fish caught using corks, in 5-12' water, and CJ's Crawdad punch bait.
