Big mess of crappie
Yep, it doesn't get any better than that!!!
My local fishing buddy and I had another great fall trip. Left the house around 6:15, got on the water by 7:30, and started filling the livewell.
Focused on BPs, but didn't find many stacked with fish like we had hoped. The ENE wind eliminated a lot of my best ones too, so that didn't help. Picked up a few here and there, and then turned our attention to some docks. (He got hooked on dock shooting last trip) To my surprise the dock bite was better than the BPs. Neither produced any monsters today. Kept mostly 1-1.5lb fish. for every keeper we probably caught 5 or 6 9.5" fish and lots of dinks. Not sure what that's about, but looks good for next year. Probably caught 150 fish total.
Tried every color and presentation we could on BPs, and the shad colors still worked best. It was a little breezy, so a 1/16oz jig with a 1/16oz split shot added for feel seemed to work best. Otherwise it was JIGUM's 1/8oz GreaseBath that did the trick. Typical 1/16oz pink head with a pearl colored Shad Pole was the ticket on docks. BP fish seemed to be tighter to cover and more on bottom in 14-20' of water.
Didn't feel like cleaning too many, so we settled on splitting 30 keepers.
Just an awesome day!
CAN'T FOR THE LIFE OF ME FIGURE OUT HOW TO TURN THESE DANG PICS, SO IF SOMEONE WANTS TO DO IT FOR ME BE MY GUEST.
