I was thinking about hitting it for a bit tomorrow...never been on RH before and thought I should start getting acquainted with her since it will be my new home lake once our house is finished being built next year. Any input on inconspicuous hazards, lanes, ramps, general patterns this time of year would be appreciated.

Congrats on the new house!

I've never fished Hubbard but buddy of mine does and he's been doing well with traps in and around brush in shad patterns.

Good luck!

Upper half of the lake has lots of timber. Lower half has areas that will bite you especially as the lake level drops. Its pretty easy to learn to run but I would follow others or go with people that know the lake.

Coves east of the 2 mile bridge are pretty good places to fish. Had a lot of luck in thoughs areas. Also
fishing the rocks around the boat docks.

Call Johnny Procells. 972-814-8942..Hubbard guide and a hell of a fun guy. Fishes Hubbard about every day. And knows the lake better than all others combined. Strong statement i know but he's fished the creeks before the lake filled. And most of the others follow him around. Put in at Harbor Bay. Just FYI Balck bass, Crappie, Sand bass grow faster in Hubbard than any other lake in Texas. Also join Ray Hubbard Sportsman society The guys I met are great.

Thanks for the input fellas. I've had more than a few tell me it's the most underrated lake in DFW so I'm looking forward to learning it.

Ha, well hopefully I'll fare better on this "Ray" than the other one. That other one often leaves me mumbling to myself all the way home from the boat ramp.

Yes, I've heard about the ROCKS. Definitely will find some time to pound those while I explore. I'll be in a white/blue Ranger w/ a 'Rude.
