The Ray Hubbard Bass Club held our ninth and last tournament of the year last Saturday October 19 at Pat Mayse. The weather was outstanding starting cool in the morning and finishing warm and sunny. 20 boats made the long drive past Paris to fish with us. The fishing was very good unless you were looking for keepers which were harder to come by. Everyone caught a bunch of fish and had a fun day. When it was all over, long time RHBC vets Brandon Putnam and Robert Oleson won with 4 fish for 12.30. Here are full results and pictures.

Matt Jackson having a good time at weigh in and getting photo bombed by Paul Villarreal.

Vince Burt and Eric and Evan Vidal are ready to get the weigh in started.

David Choate and Stan Browning brought their one fish up and then cheered everyone that went past them on the scales.

Eric Vidal dusted the cob webs off son Evan and got him out for this one. Here they are with their two. Great to see you Evan!

Matt Prior went to the Jimmy Houston school of making little ones look big!

Joe Ruiz and Paul Villarreal had two fish, but one was a 4.29 chunk.

Dale Rettman and Kelly Millhollan weighed three fish and Dale finally admitted Kelly caught ALL their fish.

Congrats to the winners and to all who weighed in. Looks like a fun time was had.

I'm curious is 12 lbs a good weight these days on Pat Mays? I am not being facetious. I'm really wondering. I haven't tournament fished in a few years but seems I remember the Uncle Jesse and other tourney's on that lake producing much heavier stringers than that.

Great question Anchorman. Most if not all of our guys had never fished the lake, so we may not be a good sampling of what the lake is capable of. I know my partner and I caught 30 or more fish on the day, but finding a big or even keeper bite was hard for us. We may have all been looking in the wrong place. smile Hopefully a local will chime in here!

Really fun lake that fished tough both days we were there. I think Pat Mayse could produce much better sacks for more experienced locals. We did not fish clean and should of had our fifth keeper for another few pounds. Like most, keepers were hard to come by. Our practice and tournament day were both high sky bluebird days making the morning bite key to our success. If it were not for a fortunate early big fish and a late adjustment fish we would not have succeeded.

Back in the day Pat Mayse was the best kept secret around, mid-late 70's

Thanks Yogi, but Tom that can catch fish lost a good fish that would have culled us up significantly. mad That's fishing but it was and still is frustrating. That being said, we had a lot of fun out there! Catching fish on a Ribbit all day is a great way to spend a Saturday.
