Was out late yesterday afternoon on Joe Pool and just before sundown I came out of the little cove I was in and as soon as I got out just a little into open water I noticed shad swimming on top....I slowed down and watched and before you know it there were schools here and there. As I headed north and came around the point, now headed west to Loyd Park I couldnt believe what I saw. I have never in my life seen so many shad on one lake. From around the main point that lets you head south all the way pass the bridge by the Marina the top of the water was covered with shad. I stopped the pontoon and drifted. It didnt matter where I threw from I had a net full of large thread fin shad. It was so cool to watch so many shad and watch what Im sure was sandbass etc. chase them around. It didnt matter which direction you looked or how far....shad were everywhere. I read somewhere a couple years ago that Joe Pool didnt have enough bait fish in it to sustain a large fish population. I call BS on that after seeing acres upon acres of shad. Thought I would just share this with you guys.
P.S.
Stay away from Loyd park boat ramp at sundown...It aint worth it, never seen so much ignorance at one time in one place.

It's always Awesome seeing things like that. Not something you get to see everyday. I appreciate the write-up. It's just as cool hearing about it. cheers

Was out yesterday and the shad were everywhere off of Loyd Park at around 6:00PM. Never seen that many hitting the top at once. No wind whatsoever. Lots of sandies, but most were small and as everyone else has seen, lots of small blacks.

Probably was sandbass, but I've seen blues chase them to the surface too. That's corking time.
