Got to Katie's Woods this morning 8am. Beautiful morning with a little breeze from the south. First stop was the island and it was covered up with bait but no bites so we moved on to a point and ledge over by Meadomere. No bites there. Moved across the lake to the big flat by Murrell and game on! The interesting thing was that there was not much bait on the flat but every time I marked fish...we got bit! Not complaining at all but I just found it curious. We played that out and ended up with 60 or so good sand bass. We saw a mini boat show over by the aerators so we eased by to see what all the hubbub was about and it did not look like many fish were being caught so we moved on to find a little less crowded area. We ended up over on the north Shore by the dam and I started picking up what is normally crappie marks on the scope.Guess what? It was. We picked up 7, 11&12 inch crappie and 1 baby ditch pickle. By now it is noon and heating up pretty good. Went back to the flat by Murrell and the cupboard was bare so we called it a day.ade one more stop back by the island and caught one 2 pound channel kitty. Not a bad morning for us. Water temp 77 degrees and all fish caught on Ole Ugly slabs and flies in 18 to 26 feet of water on the slopes. I did see some boats on top of the flat but it looked like staying on the slope around the edge of the flat was more productive. For what it's worth.

I drove down dam road about 8:30 and didn't see any boats by the pumps. Must have been before the boat show started! Wishing and dreaming I was out there fishing instead of heading off to work. Great report!

Terrible twos, I was wishing and dreaming also but didn't go to work. We should really turn things around.

Johnny I would not say that we wacked em and stacked em but it was nice to have them act like they are supposed to. I will say, when they decided to stop biting it was off like a switch.

I'm gonna try and get out on Friday morning. If you see someone attempting to fish from a runabout, that's me. Unless Thunderbolt wants to bring his rig over. wink

Scooter, we were in the white Kenner Vision 2102. I think we talked with you a little bit around Murrell. Nice to meet you. I took Texs44 and my mom out yesterday and we put 80+ in the boat. Same M/O as Monday. Only difference was that the lake was very foamy and stained. I had the nastiest scum line to wash off after we left the lake. The fish still cooperated though.

I miss fishing grapevine in the fall. Had some great trips out there back in the day. Would listen to football games and catch the heck out of sand bass. Used to launch out of the ramp that was by the southside of the dam (where gaylord texan is now) used to pull up around 5-6 on a monday evening at be on fish in 10 minutes. Home by 8-9. Good times.

Water temperature is 80F. I can't see it turning over anytime soon.
