For bass fishing? It doesn't appear to sit real high in the water. Only reason it is in consideration is because my family has just been expanded by 1 and the bass boat is just not comfortable for 6 of us much less 7......
I see the CC as a more versatile boat anyway since I'm not a single species kind of guy, I may chase sandies and striper, anchor down for cats and then troll around for largemouth. I tend to hit bigger lakes anyway and would like a boat that handles rough water better as Ray Roberts and PK can get rough in a hurry.
Also it seems better for cruising and even tubing and swimming off of if we choose so.
I have my eye on the Purebay mainly because of the layout and the features of the few I've looked at in the DFW area. I will probably have mine outfitted with 2 Powerpoles to help with bass fishing to stay on point. I have issues keeping my bass boat on point when its windy so I can't see how a CC would be much different than what I fight now.
Only thing I see as a major issue when bass fishing is getting up in timber. Probably not going real far up in the thick stuff in a 24' boat but I don't see many 20-21' bass boats up there either......
Thoughts? Anyone doing serious bass fishing out of the 2400?
Yes the 2400 is really what I need also because we tend to take other people out and it will be possible more often than not for me to have 6-8 people on the boat. Oh and I don't view the pontoon boat as a serious fishing rig. If I have to have only one boat, it's going to be more fishing than anything.

I don't know anybody who has ever said they wish they had bought a smaller boat, everything gets better when the boat gets bigger, except MPG and MPH. it may be tough to flip a jig at bass off the front but its not a bass boat

Ive never fished the 2400, but if you have a clan of 7, a BIG bay boat makes good sense

I agree..its not the best for most type for bass fishing, but you can fish, maybe just not catch.. grin

with your needs I don't see why this type boat wouldn't let every body have a great day on the lake...

Oh I can catch......
Yeah I realize ergonomically it's not going to fish like a bass boat but I've seen plenty of jig flipping from the front deck of one......
Are there any other brands that are very comparable in layout and fishability that I should look at? I may have to take a trip towards the coast but I LOVE the storage and layout of the Purebay. From what I can tell, it seems like the best compromise of a flats boat and high side bay boat. More like a bass boat but better and drier in rough water.

And yes, this will open up the avenue to take more trips to the coast and do some serious redfish and trout fishing...

I think you would love it as long as towing it was not a problem. For years I used a 24ft Pontoon boat as my fishing rig with a foot controlled TM up front. My main complaint was it was too darn slow. I worked docks and shorelines with it, you just have to plan ahead of how you approach things. The Purebay would fish much easier and you would feel much safer than with a 18ft.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should!

Yeah between my Dodge CTD or my wife's Suburban 2500 towing isn't an issue. Even at almost 30' long it's not an issue. My 5th wheel is longer than that and my wife is actually pretty good at towing too.
We considered a pontoon but I like to move a little faster than that and it is just not set up to fish as its primary job. And when we hit the water 85% of the time we are fishing so that played into the turning towards a bay boat.
Sounds like I may have my answers then. Now as far as shallow water anchors go, would you go with 2 of the same size anchors for a boat of this size or will one hold it? I'm really thinking about one 10' and one 12' but I'm not sold on the longer one yet, haven't heard a lot of good things about them. Maybe an 8 and 10?

Check out Nautical Star. I looked and looked until I finally decided it was the boat for me. I got the 214 it's a 21', but it's only me and my son that fish so a larger boat was not worth the cost to me. I did look hard at the 244 and it is over 24'. It has a much larger deck on the rear and more room between the console and front deck. It takes the water great, runs reasonably skinny, and has nice features. I was almost set on a 2200 Purebay, and looked once more at the 2-4 and pulled the trigger. I also came from a bass boat, and I never bass fished.

We have a 24' center console.

So far we like it, but you will have to get used to a few things, it is unweildly to drive in tight spots, most boat slips are not big enough, and towing it is much more akin to dragging a travel trailer than what we were previously use to as a boat. Other than that no regrets here.

I also have the 214 XTS Nautic Star. For me it is the perfect fishing boat, it has the deck space to give it the bass boat feel in a center console boat, plus it has a good amount of storage. Sure, it sits a little higher in the water than a bass boat but with 3 young kids it made more sense than a bass boat. I'm also a multi species fisherman with bass fish at the bottom of the list. I actually liked the layout of the 214 over the 224 and 244 due to the 3rd seat on the back deck.

PS. I have the yamaha 4 stroke 150 HP on mine
