Hit Fork this evening for a couple of hours. Figured I would try to get a topwater bite so I started at teh mouth of Williams Creek on the points throwing a Megabass Giant Dog X in white python. Had a couple of small bites and half hearted strikes in 0-10'. Literally had no wind and the water was glass slick so I started pitching a Texas rigged homemade craw in green pumpkin with black, copper and red flake. Had 2 bites flipping stumps in 2-5' of water but noticed both came as I was reeling in bait.
Noticed some smaller shad so I tied on a 3/8oz white double willow spinnerbait with blades close to shad size. Literally got a nice under on my first cast with it. Had a fair number of bites just running the shallow points as I noted above with the spinnerbait. Caugfht one in 6" of water with it up on the point itself and had a couple of nice unders as well. Rest were smaller fish but still a LOT of fun. They were inhaling the spinnerbait as I bounced it off stumps etc. They seemed like they wanted a fast retrieve.

Figured I would pass on the info in case anyone wanted to give it a try.

Thanks Mark
I've noticed they are wanting a little faster retrieve also, they are really chasing the shad
at times.
To me, this is the best time of the year to fish, especially when deer season gets in full swing, lol

The real fun is how hard they are slamming the spinnerbait. Its a violent bite right now.

We wore them out today but not on moving baits. They were chasing shad but we just never got bit on a small crank, or on a white chatter bait.

I was gonna tie on a small squarebill but after the spinnerbait deal fired up I stayed with it.

I'll have to try a spinner bait this weekend, I was mainly using a red fin an a rippling red fin.
At times as soon as the bait would hit the water, they would hit it so hard it would fly out of water about a foot.
The feeding frenzy was on, lol
A beautiful sight to watch

What's the best trailer to use with a spinner bait this time of year, if you even use one?
Thanks

I did not use one. No trailer hook either.

Tuesday, 10/13-

had to take care of a couple of things before I got on the water. Fished from 7:30AM till about 1:30 today. I knew the bluebird skies would have them tight to cover sulking. I wanted to hit some different areas today as well. Started out with the moving baits but no takers. Started flipping/pitching shallow cover around Caney and Wolf. Everything i caught was in 5' or less today. Early on the bite was pretty light then about noon they started thumping it. Really had to throw past what you were fishing and just drag it by them though. Everything today came on a 3/8oz Texas rigged homemade craw or Megabass Bottle Shrimp in numa ebi)dark green pumpkin). Only had one slot fish but rest were all unders. Had 15 or so in the boat and missed a few other bites. Maybe 3 of those were good weighers. Nothing over 15" or so either. Lots of bites for the conditions and if nothing else it was fun. Most came halfway back to the mouth of creeks. Secondary points were best. Focus on big hardwood or other cover 5" or less.

Again figured I would share the info. I doubt I will be out there again till after Berkley. Probably go to Caddo or Tawakoni on Thursday and Friday.
