I'll admit I am an old school fisherman- and not a very successful one at that. I pretty much stick to cranks, spinners, swim baits and carolina rig. I DON'T know how to:
flip (100% backlash rate; I have a pool, so I have no excuse for practicing) drop shot wacky rigs jigs (have some, but don't know how/where to fish them) fishing deep (love <15' waters)
I guess if I fished more often, I would want to learn these more, but I just don't get to get on the water that much.
What about you?

About the only thing I have not fooled with is spy baiting. Not real sure I ever will. Everything else I can at least do. Not real fond of some stuff but I can do it if I have to.

I'm no expert spy baiting either. I've caught a few but have not done well. I catch them on the drop with it but not the retrieve. I might be reeling too fast.

I don't spy bait either.
Two techniques or baits that I just can't seem to get bit on are a chatter bait and a wacky rigged trick worm. I know they work, they just don't work for me. Spinner baits work for me and wacky rigged senko type baits work well also for me, but not the chatter bait or the wacky trick worm.

Counting down baits to catch fish that are suspended.
I've never wacky rigged, drop shotted or used a shakey head before until I bought my boat in March and have had really good results especially with drop shot.
I've refused to t-rig since I've been back fishing to learn new things. Haven't done it once. Good or bad.

Swim baits. They look so good in the water but I don't know if I've ever had a bite on a swim bait that's longer than 3"s

Plastics... of any kind! I usually stick to the same things..crankbaits, spinners, any hard lure. Nightcrawlers, minnows and catfish bait! LoL
A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work.

Soft plastics. Never have been very good at them.

I have not caught a fish on a spinnerbait, chatterbait (dont own any), senko, swimbait (dont know how to rig them) and I have only caught a couple fish on a jig. I have caught the majority of my fish on Texas rigged finesse works and baby brush hogs. I have only caught three fish on a crankbait.
Is there a good place around the DFW area that has the numbers of fish in it that would make it a good practice lake?
