I have a 1989 Mercury 150HP XR4 paired with Mercury controls (not sure of year). I am not getting the initial warning indicator when turning on the key, nor have I gotten any alarm during operation of the motor. I would like to make sure it is working at all. There is plenty of information out there helping with specific alarms but I have not found anything on NO alarm.
As always, any information is appreciated.

If it has still has oil injection turn the key on and remove the motor mounted oil tank cap and you should start getting an intermittent beep. Find the brown wire going to the starboard cylinder head, ground that wire at the wire buss terminal right above the starter solenoid and you should get a solid tone alarm. The horn could be bad or not connected. Most have the horn inside of the shift - throttle control.

I appreciate the quick reply gary!
The oil injection has been removed, but that is exactly the information I am looking for.
Any other thoughts?

Just make sure the over heat alarm is working. You can remove the heat warning, heat the sensor with a bic. Touch sensor to head to sound alarm after heated. The oil warning module is removed so their will not be 3 beeps when you turn the key on.

Not with the oil warning module removed. Nothing to signal the 3 beep test.
