I think I am going to stay a bit closer to home tomorrow and hit Marine Creek and give it a go. I have actually done pretty well bank fishing there in the past, nothing ever big unfortunately, but decent numbers.

I have had my canoe up there once, maybe twice, but never my new kayak. So . . . developing.

I'll drop shot some, finesse style, on my spinning tackle; and, I might try a 4/0 drop shot on my bait caster and see if I can catch the attention of something larger.

Other than that, I might try throwing Senko or a shad/fluke swim bait.

There are areas of the lake I have never fished so I'll move around a bit and see what results I get.

Oh!

Decent weather with high temps in the mid 80s and a wind forecast showing 7 to 8 mph in the morning dropping down to 5 mph in the late afternoon.

I can handle that! Brad

Will do! And, one of these days, I need to go out with one or more of you kayakers who fish Lake Benbrook. It is even closer for me.

And, Lake Arlington.

Bill Wilcox's show two weeks ago will probably create an extra crowd out at Benbrook for awhile. He nailed them out there like he does everywhere he seems to go.

I have only been on Benbrook once and that was back in February so nothing was caught haha. The Trinity is my home, and where I do almost all of my fishing.

I need to hit the Trinity and I live within a few miles of that launch site over near 7th I guess it is.

Marine Creek: I caught 5. . . 4 bass and some sort of hybrid looking pan fish. It had odd coloring.

My best bass was likely 1.25 lbs., the rest somewhat smaller. None put up much of a fight. One photo of one of the bass, the other the odd looking pan fish. Blue Gill with no coloring?

The lake is nice for a kayak but sort of flat, that is, no nice deep shelves, none that I can find. I caught all of my bass over near where the Frisbee course is.

I used an elaztech worm for 2 and a Keitech shad looking bait for 2 others. Can't recall what I had on when I caught the pan fish.

I HATE that boat ramp area over off of Huffines on the NW side of the lake. Yuk. It is rocky and uneven. Maybe the other ramp they are working on will be better once it is done.

Benbrook is fun. I live by mustang park so I go there all the time. Plenty of trees in that area. Seem to be popular for kayaks lately

I actually catch bass at MC. My issue is its relatively featureless contour, its shallow water. I really like fishing points, islands, drop offs, ledges, and grass lines.

Even the dam, where I normally find a lot of bass holding, well it just doesn't pan out for me at MC. I do best just working about a long cast's distance off the bank and fish really slowly.

And, the bass out there? They are just limp on the line. I get a little fight from them but I recall when Tom and I were in Oklahoma in September fishing a private lake stocked with Florida Bass, that we'd hook into one and before you could see it, you'd think, "I've got a big fish," then you'd land a rather pedestrian 1.5 lbs. bass. But, they'd feel like a 4 pounder!
