The afternoon before I sent El Rojo a text asking him if he wanted to go out.
He replied that Pam had just got back from a couple of days in Big D and he ought to spend some time with her.
Seconds later, I rec'd a text from HN stating the he had just arrived at his fish camp and he wanted to pay for the GTG tourney.
We quickly made plans to see if we couldn't get some filets for the GTG Fish Fry cheers

We put in at 154 public ramp, my last couple of trips had been in that area to get away from the effects of lake turn over &
I wanted to search some more.

It became evident very quickly that the turn over was going on down south also bang

When we finally found some fish that wanted to cooperate, the bite was very light.

We stayed on spots that we caught fish off of way too long, but just about every time we mentioned leaving,
either HN or myself would stick 1

We were fishing structure in 19-24 fow and discovered that if you fished shallow you'd catch small bass - caught more of these than crappie;
if you fished 15-17 fow you'd catch small and barely keeper sized crappie, but if you could get right below them hooked clap

We pulled up to a bp that had been good, but NADA hmmm .....then I found out why

On the way to that bp, I was following the creek channel in the nook it was in, passed a submerged tree that was leaning over the channel that I'd marked when Belinda & I was there and my screen lit up like it had short circuited banana

We caught several very nice chunks there down about 20-21' under the tree on the lip of the channel.

It was a BEAUTIFUL cool day with light winds and as always, a good time with my new fishing pard thumb

We ended the day with 28 slabs for the GTG cheers

Joe was using a Lil' Fry in Monkey Milk on a burnt orange 1/16 jig head and I was using the new Tadpole in Pearl Ice and BES on a 1/32 jig head
Water temp started out around 77 degrees and got up to 81-82

Going out today and going to head back to my normal stomping grounds....Rigging up a slip cork, as I had quite a few reports of fish being caught 8' down woot

Nice mess of Crappie, it doesn't look like the wind was too bad.

Some of those were really good size and the bass always keep it interesting.

Hickory Nutt is a good crappie fisherman. Nice catch. Sure better than my last trip to fork where I caught dinks one right after the other.

The new tadpole is a great bait. Good body size and profile and plenty of tail action. Available very soon. woot

Todd, I believe I was fishing in the same area as you this afternoon. I was solo in a black X-press, I hope I wasn't on one of your spots, as I stumbled upon a huge bunch of fish at 20' in that creek near a bend. I intended to wave you over to share that spot and introduce myself, as I limited quickly, but when I turned back, you had motored away.
